Various activities on Sunday afternoon

We begin the day with a Thanksgiving service at Zion United Church, Crediton.

Most of us take part in an excursion to Grand Bend on Lake Huron. At Grand Bend the bus breaks down for the third time. We manage to get it going again by pushing. Nevertheless Steve has to call in a friend to help. The way Steve handles these breakdowns - one wonders: Is he used to them?

Werner and Wolfgang take part in a 20-minute flight over the area starting from the little airport that is situated on Academy grounds. Guenter and Brigitte are ready to attend a meeting of the International Finkbeiner Committee called by Reginald. His agenda: Shall information be distributed as printed matter by mail or electronically by internet / e-mail or in every way? Besides Guenter's "Finkbeiner Information" for Germany and Gary's "Finkbeiner Family Newsletter" for the United States, should there be a Canadian organ as well? What will be the exact date of the Third International Finkbeiner Reunion at Baiersbronn in 1999? There are no conclusive answers to be expected from this meeting.

Wally Pfaff had taken down one of the strange implements on exhibit in the "Historical Room" and asked the question: What is it? Written answers were collected in a box.

The first correct answer drawn (a horse-comb, at the same time a tool for removing by fire superfluous horse-hairs) won the prize, a "Mother Nature walking-stick" from Wally's vast collection. He gathers twigs when strolling in the woods and fashions them at home. What a pity: tonight the bar closes early. So we move up to the "Lounge" to chat and sing and drink (George treats us to a bottle of gin).
